Disney Has a New Metric to Capture Its Growing Bet on Cruises

Disney doesn't break out its cruise financials, but a U.K. subsidiary offers more details on the sector's growth.
A new data point reported by Disney suggests the company is leaning hard into its cruise line.
A new “global guests” metric, which blends park attendance and passenger cruise days, was up 4% in the first nine months of fiscal 2026. The number was mentioned in CEO Josh D’Amaro’s second-quarter letter to shareholders and made its first appearance in a quarterly report in August.
“We feel this [metric] provides a lens into our increasingly global and diversified Experiences businesses, and aligns more closely with our investment initiatives around the world,” CEO Josh D’Amaro said in an August letter to shareholders.
The shift comes amid Disney’s expansion efforts under a 10-year, $60 billion investment in its experiences segment, with about 20% earmarked to help Disney more than double its cruise fleet to 13 by the end of 2030.
