Absa Bank Kenya PLC has reported Ksh.10.5 billion in profit after tax for the six months ended June 30, 2026.
According to the lender, it recorded growth in customer assets and deposits amid what it described as a dynamic operating environment.
In a statement on Tuesday, the bank said customer assets increased by eight per cent to Ksh.329.9 billion, while customer deposits grew by five per cent to Ksh.380.7 billion.
Total assets also rose to Ksh.558.1 billion with the lender posting a return on equity of 21.7 per cent, while capital adequacy stood at 19.4 per cent and liquidity reserves at 42.7 per cent.
Absa also recorded total revenue of Ksh.29.3 billion during the period, comprising Ksh.21.1 billion in net interest income and Ksh.8.2 billion in non-interest income.
The bank reported a 20 per cent year-on-year increase in income from its subsidiaries, including asset management, custody services and bancassurance.
Interim Managing Director and CEO Yusuf Omari attributed the performance to what he described as disciplined execution despite pressure from the operating environment.
“While the dynamic operating environment exerted pressure on performance, the Bank recorded strong momentum in the second quarter. This reflects our disciplined execution, continued support for customers through relevant financial and non-financial solutions, and ongoing investment in the long-term resilience and sustainability of the business," said Omari.
The bank said it also continued to expand its financial inclusion offering during the period, targeting homeownership, vehicle and business asset financing as well as entrepreneurship.
“Our strategy remains anchored on delivering sustainable, long-term growth while enhancing customer experience across all touchpoints.”
The lender further announced a Ksh.100 billion commitment over the next three years towards asset financing for businesses and individuals in key sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, education, infrastructure, trade and logistics, with the financing proposition offering up to 100 per cent financing for targeted assets.
On its wider business strategy, Omari said Absa was seeking to strengthen its position across consumer, business and corporate banking.
