Matiang'i’s Message to Ndindi Nyoro After Launching New Party
This story has significance for readers across Kenya and beyond.
Jubilee Presidential Aspirant Fred Matiang'i has congratulated Kiharu Member of Parliament (MP) Ndindi Nyoro for launching his new party, the People’s Party of Kenya.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 18, Matiang'i lauded Nyoro's move as a testament to Kenya's ever-evolving democracy and multipartyism.
He added that the new party would be a vehicle for more Kenyans to be involved in political engagements, which was part of their democratic rights,
"Your move is a further testament to our ever-evolving democracy and its embrace of multipartyism.
"Your latest decision will create more opportunities for effective political participation while enhancing our collective chances of restoring better leadership in our country," the statement read in part.

The former Interior Cabinet Secretary further told the Kiharu MP that he was looking forward to working with him within the Opposition ahead of next year's general election.
"I enthusiastically look forward to engaging and collaborating with your party as we strengthen our determination to win next year’s General Election. Congratulations once again," he added.
The statement came after Nyoro formally announced he had quit the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party. He revealed that he had left the party a long time ago and that the announcement was just a formality.
The MP further claimed that several other elected leaders who were still in the party would abandon ship sooner rather than later.
"For the avoidance of doubt, I know you all know that we left the government a long time ago and dissociated ourselves from the wheelbarrow party, UDA. From what I can see, even those with the wheelbarrows themselves will eventually leave and abandon it," he said.
Nyoro said his move to the People’s Party of Kenya would also see him and his supporters take an opposition role.
"As Ndindi Nyoro, together with my supporters, from today, I have joined a party called the People’s Party of Kenya. As members of the People’s Party of Kenya, we have today joined the opposition," he added.
