Two major water projects to benefit Turbo residents
This story has significance for readers across Kenya and beyond.
Residents of Tapsagoi Ward, Turbo Sub-County in Uasin Gishu County, are set to enjoy improved access to clean and reliable water, following the official handover of two water project sites to contractors for implementation.
The projects—Karunda II Water Project and Tebesonik III Water Project—are part of the Nguzo 7 Administration’s ongoing efforts to accelerate service delivery and bring essential services closer to the people.
At Karunda II, the scope of works includes the construction of pumping mains and distribution pipelines, rehabilitation works, installation of communal water points, and fencing. On the other hand, Tebesonik III will involve the construction of a pump house, supply and installation of a water pump, solar panels, and a five-A five-meter plastic water tank, as well as the construction of distribution pipelines and communal water points.
The site handover exercise took place Friday and was overseen by the area Member of County Assembly (MCA), Nicholas Bitok, the Ward Administration, and Engineer Benadys Chelagat.
Addressing residents during the exercise, MCA Bitok urged the community to make maximum use of the projects once completed, emphasizing the potential of reliable water access to transform livelihoods.
“I encourage residents to diversify their agricultural activities. With reliable water access, you have an opportunity to expand agricultural production and improve household incomes,” said Bitok
Engineer Benadys Chelagat assured residents that the projects would be implemented to the required standards, pledging close supervision throughout the construction process.
“I will work closely with the contractors to ensure smooth implementation and timely delivery of these projects,” Chelagat stated.
The two projects are expected to significantly improve water access for households and support agricultural activities, marking another milestone in enhancing service delivery and improving living standards in Tapsagoi Ward.
