Social media personality Brian Mwenda took matters into his own hands on Saturday, August 22, after two men on a motorcycle allegedly snatched a woman's phone along Thika Road near Muthaiga Police Station.
In a video he posted to social media, Mwenda is seen behind the wheel, driving at speed along the busy Thika Superhighway, while a passenger in the car filmed the two suspects as they fled on their bike.
Why did Brian Mwenda put up a KSh 50k bounty?
Both Mwenda and the passenger can be heard shouting at the men as the chase unfolded on the packed road.
Unable to catch the duo, Mwenda turned to his online following for help.
He posted:
"These two thugs have snatched a phone from a lady along Thika Road right after Muthaiga Police Station. We have tried to chase them but they succeeded. I'll pay 50,000 to anyone who has any information that can lead to the arrest of these thugs."

Who is Brian Mwenda?
Mwenda rose to national prominence in late 2023 after allegations emerged that he had posed as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya without any legal qualifications or a practising licence.
Reports claimed he had taken over the Law Society of Kenya portal account belonging to a legitimate lawyer with a similar name, Brian Mwenda Ntwiga, after changing the account's profile picture and personal details to match his own identity.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with forgery, identity theft and making false certificates of admission, to which he pleaded not guilty.
