Murder suspect arrested in Trans Nzoia, linked to second killing

In a statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Sunday, The victim, identified as Florence Khosa, 84, was admitted to Cheranganyi Nursing Home following the attack.
The DCI reports that Khosa later succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment, despite efforts by medical personnel to save her life.
Following the incident, the detectives launched a manhunt for the suspect, identified as Ezekiel Nyongesa Barasa, after he allegedly went into hiding.
Investigations and subsequent police operations led detectives to the suspect, who was arrested and subjected to an identification parade. Witnesses reportedly positively identified him.
As the investigation gathered momentum, they uncovered another lead allegedly linking Barasa to the killing of an 86-year-old woman in Tongaren, Bungoma County.
Preliminary investigations have also raised allegations that the 84-year-old victim may have been sexually assaulted by the suspect before her death.
Detectives are conducting forensic examinations and pursuing other lines of inquiry to establish what happened and determine the circumstances surrounding the two incidents.
The suspect remains in police custody as investigators compile evidence ahead of his arraignment in court.
