Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced maintenance across five counties on Monday, August 24.
The outages will begin at 8am in some areas and last up to nine hours. KPLC emphasised that the outafes are necessary for new connections, upgrading, and replacement of power lines.
"Notice is hereby given under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules That the electricity supply will be interrupted as here under: It is necessary to interrupt supply periodically in order to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of power lines to the network; to connect new customers or to replace power during road construction," KPLC stated.
Customers and businesses in the affected regions were urged to plan accordingly.

KPLC employee charged with bribery
In other news, EACC detectives arrested Kennedy Wambani, a Kenya Power employee based in Mbale, Vihiga, for allegedly demanding KSh 50,000 bribe from God's Vision for Africa.
Wambani allegedly demanded the bribe after the organisation fixed a dangerous pole near its premises through a private contractor. He was nabbed while allegedly recieving KSh 20,000 from the organisation.
The suspect was charged at Kisumu Anti-Corruption Court and freed on KSh 200,000 cash bail and a surety of a similar amount.
