Fight project vandalism, Makueni Deputy Governor urges residents

Makueni County Deputy Governor (DG), Lucy Mulili, has asked the residents of Kilome Constituency to help curb rampant vandalism of projects and instead challenged them to protect the projects so that they can serve to posterity.
Mulili made the remarks, Saturday, at Kawala Village, Kiima Kiu/Kalanzoni Ward, during the burial of Mzee Stanley Kyeva Kyunguti, where she expressed her concern over wanton destruction of projects that is impacting negatively on the development in the area.
“We have witnessed increase of destruction of development schemes, especially water projects across the County. You need to protect these projects as your own, so that they can serve you and into the future generations,” said Mulili, during the funeral in Mukaa Sub-county.
While urging the residents to safeguard the existing projects, she asked them to work closely with the County Government, to ensure they benefit as a community.
The DG revealed that the County government in partnership with other organizations, will continue to fund more water projects in the area.
She disclosed that the County government has allocated emergency funds for road repairs and disaster preparedness ahead of the El-Niño rains that is anticipated in October this year.
DG was accompanied by area Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Justus Mwanzia, among other County officials.
