- Narok County Deputy Governor Hon. Kiprono Koech Tamalinye facilitated the visit to Tophill Hospital, where Paul was receiving treatment
- Paul's death came 174 days after his younger brother, MP Johana Ng'eno, died in a helicopter crash, leaving Mama Mary without both sons
A photograph that has moved many online shows an elderly mother being taken to visit her ailing son in hospital, just three days before he drew his last breath.
Mama Mary Temas, the matriarch of the Ng'eno family in Emurua Dikirr Constituency, was accompanied to Tophill Hospital by Narok County Deputy Governor Hon. Kiprono Koech Tamalinye, who facilitated the visit to see her son Paul Ng'eno during his illness.
When did Paul Ng'eno pass away?
That visit, which took place approximately three days before his death, would turn out to be one of her final moments with him.
Paul Ng'eno, the elder brother of the late MP Johana Ng'eno, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026 while receiving treatment in Eldoret.
He had been battling complications arising from a motorbike accident that left lasting damage to his spinal cord and throat.
When did MP Johana Ng'eno die?
He had reportedly undergone surgery and was preparing for discharge when his condition suddenly deteriorated.
Paul's death came exactly 174 days after the family suffered their first devastating blow. His younger brother, MP Johana Ng'eno, was among six people who died in a fatal helicopter crash in Nandi County on February 28, 2026.
The two losses, separated by less than six months, have left the community of Emurua Dikirr in deep grief.
Was Paul the only surviving son of mama Mary?
Paul was described as the only surviving son of Mama Mary, meaning she has now buried both her sons within the same year.
The weight of that reality prompted Facebook user Arap Kemei Jr to share the photograph alongside a message acknowledging how such moments, painful as they are, sometimes allow families to find a measure of acceptance before the inevitable.
"In life, such moments have a way of preparing our hearts for acceptance, especially when we have witnessed the journey of a loved one battling illness," he wrote, adding a prayer for Mama Mary's strength and comfort.
What was Paul's medical bill?
Paul's treatment came at a significant financial cost. Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, during a visit to the family, pledged to settle a medical bill of KSh 1.8 million that had accumulated in the course of his treatment.
The post honouring Deputy Governor Tamalinye's gesture drew attention not only to the family's grief but also to the quiet acts of support extended to them during Paul's illness.
For Mama Mary, however, no gesture could soften the enormity of losing her second and last son so soon after burying his younger brother. The community continues to mourn alongside her.
