Nairobi - Kenya Power has announced planned electricity outages across five counties on Thursday, August 13, 2026, affecting dozens of areas for several hours during the day.
The utility company issued the notice under Rule 27 of the Electric Power Rules, stating that the interruptions are necessary to carry out maintenance and upgrades on power lines, connect new customers, and replace equipment within the network.
The company added that electricity supply must be interrupted periodically to facilitate the maintenance and upgrading of power lines, to bring new customers onto the grid, and to replace ageing infrastructure.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements ahead of the outage windows
1. Parts of Migori County
Area: Kokuro, Siruti from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Obama, Kokuro, Nyatambe, Ondome, Gamba Secondary, Kanyasiega, Nyamasaria and adjacent customers.
2. Parts of Murang’a County
Area: Kirere, Kaimiri, Muthithi, Karuri from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
