They stole my heart: Nairobi woman heartbroken after her beloved Vitz is stolen
This story has significance for readers across Kenya and beyond.
- For five painful days, Fibs Atieno has searched for her beloved luminous green Toyota Vitz, which was stolen along Ngong Road
- The car, nicknamed 'Pinky Hulk' for its green body and pink rims, was last spotted on the Eastern Bypass
- Atieno says the thieves did not just take a car: they took her safe space, best friend, years of hard work and peace
A Nairobi woman has been left emotionally shattered after her beloved Toyota Vitz, a luminous green car she nicknamed "Pinky Hulk," was stolen and remained missing five days after it disappeared.
In a series of Facebook posts, Fibs Atieno said the vehicle, registration KBL 732Q, was taken from the Impala area along Ngong Road.
More Than Just a Car
It was subsequently reported near Malaa Shopping Centre on the Eastern Bypass, though all leads since then have come to nothing.
For Atieno, Pinky Hulk represented far more than a mode of transport. It was her safe haven, recalling the ritual of sitting inside it long after work hours had ended, using those quiet moments to decompress and recharge.
"I miss those quiet moments sitting in the parking lot after a long day at work, just unwinding in her seat for hours, feeling completely safe and at home," she said.
She spoke about the bond in deeply personal terms, describing how every kilometre driven felt like a shared journey.
Search Goes On
Atieno disclosed that she poured her peace, freedom, and wildest dreams into every single kilometre they conquered together. Her appeal also carried a pointed message to whoever took the vehicle.
"I am writing this so if it reaches anyone who took her, if they are not robots, they know they didn't just steal a car," she said. "They stole my heart, my best friend, my years of hard work, and my peace."
Since the theft, Atieno and a circle of friends have been conducting daily searches across Nairobi and surrounding areas, following up on any tip that comes their way. She admits the emotional toll has been heavy.
One complication in the early hours of the search was that Atieno did not discover the theft immediately.
How to Contact Atieno
Roughly an hour passed before she realised the car was gone, a window during which witnesses who spotted the vehicle may not have known anything was amiss.
The car's unusual appearance remains her greatest hope. The luminous green body paired with bright pink rims makes the Vitz virtually impossible to confuse with any other vehicle on Nairobi's roads.
"I won't lie to you all, I am currently very down," she said. "This car means the world to me, and as you all know, it didn't take losing her to realise just how much she means."
Anyone who spots Toyota Vitz KBL 732Q or holds credible information about its location is urged to contact Atieno immediately via call or WhatsApp on 0710 339 678.
