A Kenyan woman allegedly stabbed all five of her children inside their home in Kampala, Uganda, in the early hours of Thursday, July 24, 2026, killing two of them and leaving three others fighting for their lives in hospital.
The attack reportedly took place at around 4 am at the family's residence in Kalungu Zone, Bunga, within the Ggaba area of Makindye Division.
Residents said the violence is believed to have followed a disagreement between the woman and her husband, though investigators are still working to confirm the motive and sequence of events.
2 Children Dead, 3 Hospitalised
A housemaid reportedly woke to the sound of distressed cries coming from inside the home and discovered all five children with severe injuries. Emergency responders took the children to hospital, but two did not survive.
Police identified 14-year-old Khadija Daizy as one of the children who died, reportedly found in her bedroom. Her younger sister, seven-year-old Hawa Dalena, was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
Their three surviving siblings, aged 13, eight and five, remain hospitalised and are continuing to receive urgent medical treatment.
The 43-year-old Kenyan national, identified by police as Dorothy Namayo, was also found injured at the scene. She is currently being treated at Mulago National Referral Hospital under police guard.
Homicide Detectives Examine Scene
A combined team of homicide detectives, Scene of Crime Officers and forensic personnel has since examined the home and collected evidence.
The bodies of the two deceased children were taken for postmortem examinations, while police recorded statements from witnesses and others who may help piece together what unfolded that night.
The case has been registered under investigations into murder, attempted murder and other related circumstances.
