A young jobless man from Nairobi took an unconventional approach to his job hunt after standing along the busy Nairobi bypass with a handmade placard.
In the post shared online, the man's placard read "I AM JOEL" and listed his skills as a driver and plumber, along with his phone number.
Kenyan woman Mwihaki wa Nyambura was travelling along the bypass when she spotted Joel and was moved to stop and capture the moment. She shared the photograph on Facebook, writing that something in her heart had prompted her to say a quiet prayer for him.
Joel's Placard Stops Passersby in Their Tracks
"I was on the move on Saturday when I saw this young man along the bypass. Something in my heart whispered a prayer for him. I don't know his story or what he's going through, but I truly hope he finds an opportunity that can change his life," Mwihaki wrote in her post.
Joel's sign was simple but direct. Beyond his name, it made clear he was actively looking for employment and was willing to work either as a driver or a plumber. Standing in plain sight along one of Nairobi's busiest arterial roads, he was effectively turning every passing vehicle into a potential job lead.
