Wangunyu, Kibubuti Comprehensive Schools in Kiambaa get facelift
This story has significance for readers across Kenya and beyond.
Roofing works at Wangunyu Comprehensive School in Kiambaa Constituency, Kiambu County, have begun as renovations come to a close ahead of the school re-opening.
Kiambaa Member of Parliament (MP), John Njuguna, alias Kawanjiku, who is spearheading the renovation works, lauded the progress of the project, which is halfway done.
In a status update, the legislator noted that the project involved full renovation works, including walls, cabro installation, roofing, and installation of water tanks, among other repairs.
“We have made significant progress in the ongoing renovation works at Wangunyu Comprehensive School. New roofing works are set to begin tomorrow, and steadily but surely, Wangunyu will become a modern school offering a refreshed and more conducive environment for learning and teaching,” Kawanjiku added.
Similar works are ongoing at Kibubuti Comprehensive School, including the refurbishing of walls, roofing, and cabro installation and floor repairs, among others.
On this project, Kiambaa MP assured residents that the school’s administration block would also receive a facelift as part of efforts to improve the overall learning environment.
“We are undertaking a full renovation of Kibubuti Comprehensive School to provide our learners and teachers with a conducive environment for learning and teaching… Once these works are complete, we will proceed with cabro paving to eliminate dust during the dry season and mud during the rainy season,” he added.
The lawmaker expressed optimism about completing the renovations ahead of third term school re-opening beginning August 24, 2026.
The renovations compliment the Ministry of Education’s efforts to improve school infrastructure as part of its initiative to enhance learning conditions across the country.
Through the Kenya Primary Education Equity in Learning (KPEEL) and Kenya Secondary Education Equity and Quality Improvement Programme (SEEQIP), the Ministry is implementing interventions aimed at improving access, quality and equity in basic education.
The Ministry of Education implementation documents under SEEQIP indicate plans to construct or rehabilitate 1,200 classrooms and sanitation facilities in targeted schools, reflecting the government’s wider investment in improving physical learning environments.
