NTV presenter Natalie Githinji is fighting one of the toughest battles of her life after being diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis, the most severe form of the condition.
In an emotional video posted on her Instagram on Tuesday, August 18, Natalie appeared lying in a hospital bed, connected to monitoring equipment and wearing a hospital ID wristband.
What did Natalie Githinji say about endometriosis diagnosis?
The clip, filmed in what appeared to be a private hospital room, gave fans a raw and candid look at her condition.
"Finally out of ICU today, now recovering kwa room but not in my best condition yet… Mentally, physically and emotionally trash…" she wrote in the caption accompanying the post.
The presenter confirmed that her diagnosis had been the outcome she feared most.
Stage 4 endometriosis is classified as the most advanced form of the disease, characterised by widespread deep-tissue implants, large ovarian cysts known as endometriomas, and dense scar tissue that can fuse pelvic organs.
In severe cases, this leads to a condition referred to as a "frozen pelvis."
Natalie did not hold back on the financial strain the illness has placed on her.
Treatment for endometriosis is costly, and she noted that the condition is not currently covered under the Social Health Authority (SHA) scheme.
She called on her followers to help her understand how to petition for endometriosis and women's reproductive health to be included in SHA's coverage.
To help manage her mounting hospital bills, Natalie appealed to businesses to purchase advertising space on her Instagram Stories at KSh 5,000 per slot.
She also invited larger brands to reach her through her email, nataliegithinjibrand@gmail.com, for further partnership opportunities.
"I'm ready to work with ya'll," she wrote, signing off with an encouraging note to others living with the condition. "To all endo warriors, keep on. God ako…."
The post drew an outpouring of support from fellow media personalities and fans alike.
