Nairobi - The National Police Service (NPS) has ordered a man identified as Kassim Abdi Sebu to present himself to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) County Headquarters in Homa Bay, as part of a crackdown on gang violence in the region.
The directive was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, and signed by Muchiri Nyaga, Director of Corporate Communication and Spokesperson for the National Police Service.
Homa Bay gang violence crackdown
According to the statement, 12 suspects linked to the gang violence incidents in Homa Bay have already taken plea in court and were placed on bond. Investigators are separately pursuing two additional individuals in connection with gun-related incidents in the county. Kassim Abdi Sebu, who has not yet reported to authorities, was specifically named and ordered to surrender to the DCI County Headquarters in Homa Bay.
Sebu is alleged to be a gang leader connected to an attack on Linda Mwananchi leaders in Homa Bay on Sunday, August 16.
Reports have linked him to senior government officials, including Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga and Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, though no formal charges have been made public regarding those alleged connections.
Kisumu suspects appear in court
A separate but related operation in Kisumu saw 15 suspects, who had been found in possession of crude weapons, appear before a court on Sunday, August 16, 2026.
The court granted the DCI four additional days to conduct further investigations into the matter. Oliver Jaoko, known by the alias Olivetti, was directed to report to the Regional DCI Headquarters in Kisumu.
The NPS urged members of the public to cooperate with investigators and warned that all individuals involved in gang-related violence would face firm action from law enforcement.
