A Mediamax Network Limited vehicle was on Sunday, August 16, 2026, burnt and media equipment vandalised and stolen after goons attacked journalists covering a Linda Mwananchi rally in Homa Bay.
The double-cabin vehicle was set ablaze as Linda Mwananchi leaders attempted to access Homa Bay town, while several pieces of equipment were vandalised and others stolen at about 7:00 pm.
Cameramen Francis Mwangi and Evans Okeyo were among those attacked while carrying out their journalistic duties. Mwangi sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
The vehicle’s driver was also injured in the attack.
Mediamax is assessing the situation and will provide further information as it becomes available.
