A Kisii family is desperately appealing for financial help to bring home the body of their 26-year-old son, Stephen Nyang'au Sereti, who was found dead on a road in Dubai under circumstances that remain unexplained.
TV47 reports that Stephen hailed from Engoto Village, Boruma Sub-location, in Nyaribari Chache Constituency, Kisii County.
Family Took Loans to Give Son a Chance
He had travelled to the United Arab Emirates in search of a better life, securing employment in the hospitality sector after his family sacrificed significantly to send him abroad.
To finance his journey and employment search in Dubai, Stephen's family took out loans, banking on the hope that his earnings would eventually ease their burden.
His death has shattered those hopes and left them not only grieving but also financially exposed, now facing the additional weight of bringing his body home.
Repatriating Stephen's remains from Dubai to Kenya will cost the family approximately KSh 500,000, a figure far beyond their current means.
Community and Political Support Pour In
Joel Okengo Nyambane, a local political aspirant, visited the bereaved family and contributed KSh 100,000 towards the repatriation costs.
The gesture offered some relief, but the family still has a significant shortfall to bridge.
Beyond the financial struggle, the family is also pressing both county and national government authorities to step in and help establish exactly how Stephen died.
The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, and his loved ones want answers. They continue to lobby for support from well-wishers as they wait to give Stephen a dignified burial on home soil.
